[03.12.2014 00:00:00] - It used to be fun... Famous chess cafe U Nováků in Vodičkova street, or a chess cave above sweet-shop of Tatran hotel on Wenceslas square. These chess oasis are long gone and some of the grouches said that they are gone forever.
But next week, all of the faithful ones will be pleased. On Thursday, December 11th at 5PM a new chess cafe will be opened in the center of Prague! A new place to get a Lamborghini coffee and sit by a chess table will be opened right on the Wenceslas square in hotel Juliš.
But wait, there will be more... There will be also a chess library with several hundreds of old books and magazines (not just in Czech, but also in German and Russian), you will have the chance to also buy new chess books and as soon as some big chess game will be played, you will have the chance to watch them streamed on projection screen as you are used to from sports bars. Next Thursday it will be the second round of supertournament in London where grandmasters as Kramnik, Caruana, Anand, Giri, Adams and Nakamura will be playing their games.
Grandmaster Eduard Meduna promised to participate on grand opening of the cafe. He played chess here, when it still was a hotel Tatran, nearly half a century ago. You can look forward to interesting memories of someone who remembers the golden era of chess cafes in Prague.
Come to get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy chess in beautiful no-smoking environment. The chess cafe is brought to you by EuroAgentur Hotels and Prague Chess Society.
