CHESS TRAIN 2015

Winners of the Best Photo Competition

[12.11.2015 00:00:00] - Chess players love post mortem analyses in which they try to convince their opponent they were actually winning all the time; if only they had found the final winning move. Because there were a couple of prizes left in the Chess Train 2015 prize fund, we announced a post mortem competition for the best photo from the Chess Train.

To this day, we have received 41 photos and the two judges Pavel and Anička have chosen 7 winning ones. Although we agreed immediately on the absolute winner – Luboš Kejzlar and his photo Farewell – we debated long and hard about the other ones, consulted with curators and art historians, until finally we chose 6 other authors.

Luboš Kejzlar – Farewell

The winner Luboš Kejzlar will receive 4 books by Garry Kasparov (Garry Kasparov on Garry Kasparov part 1; Garry Kasparov on Modern Chess: Kasparov vs Karpov), the book “Railway Německý Brod – Brno on old postcards” and the Brilliant LED light.

As the second best photo, we have chosen the green self-portrait from Bratislava by Vojtěch Trochta. The third place goes to the authorial duo M+M Kořenovy for their Majda at the blue and white chessboard. The photographer Trochta will receive the Brilliant LED lights and the books “Silent Check-Mate” and “Tilburg 1977” by Lubomír Kaválek. The photographers M+M Kořenovy won a set of marriage playing cards and the books “Silent Check-Mate” and “Magical Positions”.

Martina and Magdaléna Kořenovy – Still life in the compartment of a noisy car

The other four winners are Ed van de Gevel, Caspar Kruijf, Rob van Meurs a Daniel Parmet. Each will receive the English version of the book “Silent Check-Mate – Chess in Cartoons”.

Moreover, Magdaléna Kořenová and Adam Gálik will both receive locomotive shape 8 G USB sticks for their beautifully edited video reportages from the journey. You can watch them on the Chess Train Facebook page.
