ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2018

Navara escaped everyone on the roof of Lucerne

[13.06.2018 00:00:00] - The ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2018 was launched on June 12th by the unique blitz tournament on the roof of Lucerna Palace in Prague. Among the ninety participants was a number of strong Grandmasters, but the Golden Wenceslas Ducat for the winner was just one ...

In the beginning, the tournament was dominated by Master Tadeas Krieb, who started with a series of five wins and David Navara was among his victims. Then, the second best Czech chess player Viktor Láznička and one of the favorites of the tournament, got to the head of the pellet. However, at the end, the best Czech player was finaly the most successful - Grandmaster Navara scored 10 points from 11 games.

Foreign participants did not succeed so much - Armenian Grandmaster Sergei Movsesjan finished seventh, Indian Grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna even the eleventh. The great surprise of the tournament was the 7-year-old Jiri Bouška from Hlinsko, who scored 5 points and won the rating category until 1600. So Hlinsko is probably a really good chess club. :-)
