Qualification tournament of children and youths

Preparation for Navara

[18.06.2019 00:00:00] - 64 children registered for a qualification tournament for a simul with the Czech best chess player David Navara. The chess number 64 was a confirmation that the goddess Caissa wished the best to the Prague Chess Society, which held this tournament for children in the luxurious premises of EA Embassy hotel situated in the centre of Prague.

Three times five places for the simul with the grandmaster Navara were contested for in three categories: up to 10, up to 14 and up to 18 years old. It was surprising that the first seven positions were taken by children from up to 14 category, while the first from the category up to 18 came on 8th overall position! Moreover, seven youngest children (up to 10) came in front of all the youth from up to 18 category, excluding the one on the 8th position.

The overall winner in the seven-round rapid chess was Marek Janouš from Pilsen (6.5 points), followed by Anna Lhotka from Prague 6 (6 points). All together 62 chessplayers took part in the tournament, two enrolled children unfortunately failed to find the venue. The results can be found here. We would like to thank to EA Embassy hotel for a perfect venue and to ČEPS and MERO companies for their sponsorship, due to which all plyers received a price.

All sixty-two children not only played a nice rapid chess tournament in very respectable venue at EA Embassy hotel. Moreover, due to ČEPS and MERO sponsorship they all received a small price.



Great talent was demonstrated by a tiny Mikhail Artamonov, who had winning position even in the games, which he eventually lost, as on this photo with Tomas Vopravil.



The overall second Anna Lhotská (up to 14) with the last one to qualify for the simul with the grandmaster Navara, Lukas Pudil (up to 18).



The tournament was reliably controlled by the referee Petr Herejk and it was visited by a collector of Czech chess sets ´česká klubovka´, Petr Herejk.
