CUBIST EXHIBITION IN GRAND CAFÉ ORIENT

CUBIST CHESS SET OF JAROSLAV JUŘICA

The extraordinary cubist chess set, inspired by the legend among cubist architects and furniture designers, Pavel Janák. The chessmen are hand-carved of maple wood; they are of classic tournament size (the king is 105 mm). Its author Jaroslav Juřica belongs to the best Czech designers. He finished bronze on last prizegiving Czech Grand Design, in the cathegory Designer of the year (after Rony Plesl and Jiří Pelcl). The jury awarded his chair No.2 for the company TON. The cubist chess set has been manufactured in a limited series of 15 pieces, according to the number of generally recognized world chess champions (every set is dedicated to one champion) and its prize is 52.000 CZK (1.990 EUR) + VAT. The chess set of Juřica presents a special occasion for the collectors of the contemporary art and of the chess sets also.































Young Czech architect Jaroslav Juřica finish third on the competition Czech Grand Design.
