ČERNOBÍLÁ CESTA (BLACK AND WHITE ROUTE)

The most beautiful studies and problems of Mario Matouš, the best Czech chess composer of the 20th century, and bizarre chess stories of Pavel Houser connected by illustrations of Kristina Peřichová into one splendid book. The book was published also in limited numbered edition (100 copies), bound in imitation leather with an embossed diagram, paper cover and sewn ribbon bookmark. On 240 pages you will found 45 studies and problems, 22 stories and 36 illustrations. The book is supplemented by biographies of both of the authors and several yet non-published photos. The book was published by Prague chess society in 2014.

[14.05.2014] - Vienna still breathes the atmosphere of the former Austro-Hungarian empire. A hundred years ago, George Marco organized there chess tournaments of the stars of the chess heaven then, and the Habsburgs ruled a large part of Europe from there. Two hundred years ago, Baron von Kempelen amazed the imperial court of Maria Theresa at Schönbrunn Palace with a chess automaton – the Turk. A this year, Vienna will be the first stop of the Chess train.

[30.04.2014] - Measure your strengths with one of the best and the most original chessplayers of the planet. Hikaru Nakamura was the No. 3 player in the world ranking (to the 1st of January 2014) and he has been one of the world´s top ten for the few years and he is the best chessplayer of USA.

On the beginning of June, he will be the main guest of the chess festival ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2014 and besides the match against the best Czech chessplayer Davida Navara, he will also play a simul against 30 rivals.

[30.04.2014] - Popular Chess Train will ride this year again! Meanwhile the Czech Railways and the Prague Chess Society are finishing the preparations, you can mark in your diaries, that from the Friday 10th of October until Tuesday 14th of October is your schedule already fulfilled!

Already the fourth year in a row, this special train will cross the Central Europe in mid-October. Chessplayers could play a rapid tournament in there and visit five beautiful Central European cities. Which will be the ones this year? [18.04.2014] - Until the 1st of June you can observe the beautiful cubist chess set in the Moravian gallery in Brno. The chess set is a part of the exhibition of designer Jaroslav Juřica. Among several other works of the artist your interest would be taken by a peg Mr. Zak.

The cubist chess set is carved out of maple wood and not just figures, but also a luxury box and a chessboard have cubist curves. The set, which is of the size of standard tournament Stanton chess-men, weights over 15 kilos and you can clearly see in it the inspiration by cubism legend Pavel Janák.

[17.04.2014] - In the beginning of June, one of the greatest stars of world chess Hikaru Nakamura will arrive to Prague. He will play the four games match against Czech number one David Navara, from 6th to 10th June 2014 within this years´ ČEZ Chess Trophy. Hikaru Nakamura, born on 9th of December 1987 in Hirakata, Japanees prefecture of Osaka, is the son of Japanese father and American mother.
