ČERNOBÍLÁ CESTA (BLACK AND WHITE ROUTE)

The most beautiful studies and problems of Mario Matouš, the best Czech chess composer of the 20th century, and bizarre chess stories of Pavel Houser connected by illustrations of Kristina Peřichová into one splendid book. The book was published also in limited numbered edition (100 copies), bound in imitation leather with an embossed diagram, paper cover and sewn ribbon bookmark. On 240 pages you will found 45 studies and problems, 22 stories and 36 illustrations. The book is supplemented by biographies of both of the authors and several yet non-published photos. The book was published by Prague chess society in 2014.

[07.12.2012] - Indian woman grandmaster Tania Sachdev has landed in Prague, as the first one of the team of this year´s Snowdrops. The falling snowflakes welcame her. The rest of her three team-mates will arrive on Friday.
By contrast, the team of Oldhands is already complete in hotel Zámeček in Poděbrady. Grandmasters Olafsson and Romanišin arrived by plane, grandmaster Hort by train and grandmaster Uhlmann by car.

Navara beated Harikrishna

[02.12.2012] - The best Czech chess player David Navara beated the second best player of India Pentala Harikrishna in a wonderful rapid game. Grandmasters played on a cubist chess set in the cubist coffee Grand Café Orient in the cubist house U Černé Matky Boží. Among others, the mayor of Prague 1 Oldřich Lomecký and grandmaster Vlastimil Hort were present on this cubist exhibition.

Even if David Navara didn´t open the game very exactly and he had to prove that he has the compensation for the pawn, finally he was successful. He sacrificed the exchange for two pawns and he won convincingly.

[18.10.2012] - Twenty five people interested in the chess history profited from the offer of the guided chess history tour of Vienna, focused on the places linked with the history of the chess in 19th and early 20th century. The German group was guided by historian Michael Ehn, the English by chess International Master and journalist Stefan Löffler.

[18.10.2012] - Martin Petr won the rapid tournament in Chess train with a great result: 13 points of 13 games. He escaped the other players of one whole carriage – FM Jan Dietrich Wendt was silver with 10,5 points and GM Ján Plachetka finished third with 9,5 points. Next three players had 8,5 points.

Last night in a hotel and final 3 rounds of rapid chess tournament in the train on the way back home, waited the participants after a kind of cultural approach of bellyworship in Vienna (sacher and a coffee and a huge schnitzel in famous restaurant Figl-Müller).

[18.10.2012] - The oldest participant of the Chess train, Christoph Kohlschmidt, fighted by the same manner as the youngest one. He was refusing the draws and finally won 5 points. „I liked the Chess train very much, I enjoyed every single game, refusing the draws, because the result wasn´t important for me, only the beauty of the game,“ told us the German chess player Christoph Kohlschmidt.

[15.10.2012] - After the longest tournament day of five rounds, the shortest came. Monday of one single round on the way from Piešťany to Vienna. Grandmaster Martin Petr won even the tenth round and before the last day he has the comfortable 2 points lead. FM Jan Dietrich Wendt keeps the second rank with eight points and the third one is Sven Roemling with 7 points now. Afterwards follows a group of 5 people with 6,5 points where also GM Ján Plachetka and WGM Kristýna Havlíková are.
