ČERNOBÍLÁ CESTA (BLACK AND WHITE ROUTE)

The most beautiful studies and problems of Mario Matouš, the best Czech chess composer of the 20th century, and bizarre chess stories of Pavel Houser connected by illustrations of Kristina Peřichová into one splendid book. The book was published also in limited numbered edition (100 copies), bound in imitation leather with an embossed diagram, paper cover and sewn ribbon bookmark. On 240 pages you will found 45 studies and problems, 22 stories and 36 illustrations. The book is supplemented by biographies of both of the authors and several yet non-published photos. The book was published by Prague chess society in 2014.

Charity simultaneous game brought 565 EUR

[15.10.2012] - We have organised the charity simul with GM Ján Plachetka for helping 3 years old Lea Jesenská from Piešťany, affected by CP. Not only the players of the simul, but also other participants of the Chess train and the Medical centre Adeli collected 565 EUR, that has been delivered to the parents of this small girl. GM Plachetka played without requiring the fee.

GM Ján Plachetka played the simultaneous game with a time control (60 min for GM and 30 min for the adverseries) in the hotel Sorea Slňava just after the Chess train had come to Piešťany. Four people of the chess club ŠK PORG ... [all]

[14.10.2012] - Yijan and Ligun Yang came from China to Czech Republic only for the Chess Train. Seven-year- old Yijan from the city of Shenzen is the youngest participant of the tournament in the Chess Train.

Yijan started to play chess when he was just 4 years old. He comes from a chess family, but his parents are not his equivalent adversaries any more. „He has his own coach. At the beginning, when he started to play chess, he used to come home with some tasks that we couldn´t resolve. [13.10.2012] - After four rounds played in two days, there is the only participant playing on 100 per cent. After the grandmaster Martin Petr with 4 points follows GM Ján Plachetka, FM Jan-Dietrich Wendt and Dr. Matias Jolowicz with a lost of half point.

During the nice sunny day of Saturday the 13th October, the Chess train rode from German Dresden to Polish Wroclaw that is famous also by the romantic player Adolf Anderssen.

[13.10.2012] - „Last year, the Chess train was very succesful. We are happy that we can set out, in cooperation with Prague chess society, the train this year again. I believe that the new tradition is being born and that the Chess train will continue in following years also,“ told vice director of České Dráhy Antonín Blažek at the opening ceremony of the event.

The cubist chess set given to Steinitz

[29.08.2012] - The cubist chess set, inspired by the legend among cubist architects and furniture designers, Pavel Janák, would please not only chess set collectors but also art admirers. The designer and sculptor Jaroslav Juřiva designed the figures, with which it is possible to play a serious game and also to decorate the interior.

The figures are hand-carved of maple wood; they are of classic tournament size (the king is 105 mm) and all of them are weighted with lead for stability. The chessboard makes a part of the luxury box for the figures (measures: 510 x 510 x 85 mm); its side walls remind ... [all]
