Benkö annoyed Bobby Fischer

Benkö annoyed Bobby Fischer

[16.12.2011] - What do Vlastimil Hort and Bobby Fisher have in common? They did not solve a beautiful Pal Benkö´s study. This American-Hungarian grandmaster came up with a very easy position, where it is quite hard to find a three moves helping checkmate.

Look at the diagram below. It is black´s move and he helps white to make the checkmate in three moves. It seems to be simple, because they could cooperate, they help each other, the black king is in the corner... But... Just try it! And you understand how difficult is this study.
If you will eventually find a solution, you should be hap... [all]

Maryia Muzychuk, the only one of the Snowdrops who has not been defeated in the whole tournament, had quite a promising position in the game against Robert Hübner. However, in the middle game she did not orientate well and the black managed to simplify the position and the game was drawn. Also the game Natalia Pogonina against Rafael Vaganian resulted in a draw, in which on the other hand black did not manage to utilize... [all]
