[20.06.2011] - Grandmaster David Navara won the match against grandmaster Sergey Movsesian 3,5 – 2,5. Navara won the 4-th game and every other game ended in a draw. On Sunday June 19 grandmaster Navara could raise the glass trophy of ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2011 up his head. It was the finish of this chess festival in Prague, where we greeted the world champion Viswanathan Anand.
„This is the last moment, when the trophy is intact,“ the winner was joking, when was taking the nice glass trophy. The whole festival was hold in the similar joyful atmosphere.

Bobby Fischer and Mario Matous on Kampa island

Bobby Fischer and Mario Matous on Kampa island

[19.06.2011] - „Bobby Fischer!“ wrenched at my sleeve the world champion. We were returning from dinner to his hotel on Kampa and we met Bobby. He had a baseball cap, a big gray beard, neglected appearance and in his face he looked exactly like the eleventh world champion. I do not know if it was Bobby´s spirit or his double, a Prague´s homeless with a face of genius chess player. But we both saw him, me and Viswanathan Anand.
A few days later, during the lecture of chess magician Yochanan Afek I was unobtrusively observing a spectator on the edge of the second row. Again, an older man with a beard, bu... [all]

Safety above all

Safety above all

[18.06.2011] - Safe reflector and safe game are brief characteristics of the second day of the match of grandmasters David Navara vs. Sergey Movsesian. After dramas of the first day remained just memories, as well as memory of the world champion Viswanathan Anand, who flew from Prague at noon. He is heading home to India to his wife Aruna and a two-month son Akhil. Grandmaster Navara began with 1.d4, grandmaster Movsesian chose the Bogo-Indian Defence and got homework from David Navara to the end. Slovakia-Armenian grandmaster kept up and the game ended in a draw.
The excitement in the commentary room c... [all]

Fire in the playing hall

Fire in the playing hall

[16.06.2011] - The first game of the match of grandmasters David Navara vs. Sergey Movsesian ended after a dramatic gun battle in the middle game in a draw. "At one point it seemed that we both are standing worse," commented David Navara. For spectators in Michna Palace Lubomir Kavalek commented the game with world number one and world champion Viswanathan Anand. Exciting moments came much earlier (see: play the game) than after the seventeenth move of black Navara. About ten minutes after start of the game i... [all]
