ČERNOBÍLÁ CESTA (BLACK AND WHITE ROUTE)
The most beautiful studies and problems of Mario Matouš, the best Czech chess composer of the 20th century, and bizarre chess stories of Pavel Houser connected by illustrations of Kristina Peřichová into one splendid book.
The book was published also in limited numbered edition (100 copies), bound in imitation leather with an embossed diagram, paper cover and sewn ribbon bookmark.
On 240 pages you will found 45 studies and problems, 22 stories and 36 illustrations. The book is supplemented by biographies of both of the authors and several yet non-published photos. The book was published by Prague chess society in 2014.

The sole Hort undefeated
[26.11.2010] - „There were a lot of mistakes in the round six,“ said Snowdrop´s captain Michal Konopka. Lajos Portisch had pasive, but solid position against Viktoria Cmilyte. Then he didn´t find all defensive possibilities and lost the game.
Tereza Olšarová had better endgame, but didn´t mastered this stage of game (again against Velimirovic) and lost.
Wolfgang Uhlmann lost on time against Ariana Caoili in worse, but playable position.
Humpy Koneru should get a draw against Vlastimil Hort. Still she decided to fight and deserved to loose. So Vlastimil Hort stays the only player who didn´t lost an... [all]

[24.11.2010] - Arianne Caoili played very slowly and had timetroubles in the game against Vlastimil Hort. Caoili had deformed pawn structure and Hort skilfully managed to use his advantage.
„I really enjoyed the game against Lajos Portisch,“ said Tereza Olšarová after the game. Olšarová started a sharp attack and knitted a checkmate net.
Velimirovic´s game against Cmilyte was (again) most attractive for viewers. Cmityle had a winning position, but she missed the best continuation (20...Dxd3). After some inaccuracies Velimirovic found a decisive attack.

[24.11.2010] - It seems that white figures will dominates in this match. But in the round four Humpy Koneru managed to win against Velimirovic, who started the game unorthodoxly: 1.e4 g6 2.h4. Tereza Olšarová played fast and well against Vlastimil Hort and she deserved draw. Ariane Caoili fought hard and played best moves in bad position against Lájos Portisch but in timetroubles she overlooked possibility of perpetual chess and finally lost.
Viktoria Cmilyte followed Konopka´s game against Uhlmann from 2007. Wolfgang Uhlmann lost orientation in complicated position and then lost the game.

[23.11.2010] - Saint Peter has pleased members of the match Snowdrops and Oldhands in the 3-rd year in a row. Snow fell down in the last night and sugered the city of Marienbad. In front of the hotel Villa Butterfly there is a park, nicely covered by snow, that attracts to winters fun. See bellow pictures of Snowdrops on snow.¨
According to the weather forecast the temperature should be bellow zero in the next days too and also another snowing is expected. We can believe that this nice spa city will stay white colored until the end of our chess match.

White pieces rules!
[23.11.2010] - White pieces rules! This simple rule hold true in the Mariánské Lázně. After first three rounds wasn´t able to win anybody with black pieces. White Snowdrops fought very hard in the round three and Oldhands were in troubles from openings. The question was: could somebody from Oldhands get a draw? After three lost games finally GM Vlastimil Hort sacrificed exchange and managed a draw ending against GM Viktoria Cmilyte.
GM Humpy Koneru punished passive openings of GM Lajos Portisch in the Catalan. GM Dragoljub Velimirovic showed a nice piece sacrifice again, but WIM Arianne Caoili wasn... [all]

Oldhands are back!
[22.11.2010] - Oldhands are back! They won 3:1 in the 2-nd round and so equalized to 4:4. GM Dragoljub Velimirovič won a drawn pawn endgame against Tereza Olšarová, Wolfgang Uhlmann exploited Arianne Caoili´s mistake in her time trouble. Lájoš Portisch contened with a draw in a rook endgame against Viktoria Cmilyte. Vlastimil Hort was better after time control, but Humpy Koneru skillfully manage to draw.... [all]
