ČERNOBÍLÁ CESTA (BLACK AND WHITE ROUTE)

The most beautiful studies and problems of Mario Matouš, the best Czech chess composer of the 20th century, and bizarre chess stories of Pavel Houser connected by illustrations of Kristina Peřichová into one splendid book. The book was published also in limited numbered edition (100 copies), bound in imitation leather with an embossed diagram, paper cover and sewn ribbon bookmark. On 240 pages you will found 45 studies and problems, 22 stories and 36 illustrations. The book is supplemented by biographies of both of the authors and several yet non-published photos. The book was published by Prague chess society in 2014.

Beauty on the first track

[11.10.2014] - Chess pieces and boards in blue-white design, carriages decorated by chess figures and even the chess locomotive have made the Chess Train even better on it´s fourth way through Central Europe.

The new locomotive was unveiled by deputy of CEO of České dráhy a.s. Pavel Krtek, CEO of Výzkumný ústav železniční Antonín Blažek and director of Pražská šachová společnost Pavel Matocha. The locomotive was sprinkled by sect and then finally the train has left to begin it´s journey on the way from Prague Main station to Wien.

Launch of a new locomotive

[09.10.2014] - Come tomorrow to watch the launch of new locomotive of Czech railways, which will roam the track covered in chess motifs (you can find photos of this locomotive below). The launch will take place on first track on Prague Main station at 9:30 AM and it will be held by deputy of CEO of Czech railways Pavel Krtek, CEO of VUZ Antonín Blažek and chief of Prague Chess Society Pavel Matocha.

[15.09.2014] - Even every music album has one or two hits and every event has some highlight. And so has the Chess Train...
For the players during the tournament in the Chess Train it is usually the game and also meeting with grandmasters (for this year it is supposed to have five of them on the board so that a chance to talk or play with them would be quite big) and in dining carriage it used to be a fried steak with potato salad. But the Chess train is also a trip over five beautiful cities of Central Europe and so we prepared this list of their enticements.

Legendary grandmaster Vlastimil Hort will be defending his victory

[07.08.2014] - Australian grandmaster Ian Rogers, international master David Dejf Kaňovský and other ten chess players from the Czech Republic, Sweeden, Russia and Germany have singed themselves to the Chess Train 2014, during July. And now, at the beginning of August even grandmaster Vlastimil Hort has joined us. The legend of Czech chess will be defending his victory from last year.

Locomotive with chess motif will roam the track

[06.08.2014] - For the first time a locomotive pulling the Chess Train will be decorated by chess symbols and after the tournament it will continue to pull ordinary trains. Electrical locomotive 362, which is being repainted into the chess design, is being called "the fast ace". After the first three years, when the Chess Train was pulled by locomotive in the colours of that time sponsor Era (this bank is no more sponsor of this years Chess Train), will be the design of the Chess Train finally unified.
