[08.10.2019 00:00:00] - For the ninth time this Friday, the Chess Train will start its 5-day Central European ride, with an international chess tournament on board, where about 100 chessplayers and their friends from more than twenty countries participate.
The Chess Train 2019 is held under the auspices of the Minister of Transport Vladimír Kremlík and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček, who will attend its ceremonial departure from Prague Main Station on Friday 11 October. Legendary chess Grandmaster Vlastimil Hort, who will travel in the train the first day to Karlovy Vary, will also be one of the guests of the opening ceremony.
Chess Train 2019 will run on the route Prague - Karlovy Vary - Český Krumlov - Brno - Trenčín - Prague from 11 to 15 October. The special train has ten cars, among which the saloon cars converted into tournament halls.
Among the winners of the previous years, when the Chess Train went to Germany, Austria, Poland or Hungary, were Grandmaster Lars Karlsson (Sweden), Grandmaster Ian Rogers (Australia), Grandmaster Vlastimil Hort (Czech Republic / Germany) or Grandmaster Suat Atalik (Turkey).
You can find more information about the Chess Train, a unique project of the Prague Chess Society and Czech Railways, unprecedented in the world, on the website praguechess.cz/en or sachovy-vlak.cz and on the Facebook Šachový vlak / Chess Train.
