[25.05.2023 00:00:00] - From 9th to 11th June, the next edition of the ČEZ CHESS TROPHY chess festival will take place in the beautiful Art Nouveau halls of the Municipal House. Its main guest will be Grandmaster Alexey Shirov, who will play an eight-game rapid chess match with the Czech number two, Grandmaster Thai Dai Van Nguyen. The duel will be commentated by the Czech number one David Navara.
In addition to the grandmaster's match, you can look forward to the launch of the book of the best games of Grandmaster Lubomir Kavalek with his comments (Kavalek's Avalanche) or an exhibition of reproductions of old paintings with chess motifs.
The lecture of the international master Michal Konopka on pawn endings will certainly be instructive. The lecturer has also written a very interesting book on this topic, which you will be able to buy at the ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2023 with a festival discount, as well as the books Kaválek's Avalanche (46 best games of Grandmaster Kaválek) and The Played Life (memoirs of Grandmaster Kaválek). All books are in Czech language.
