The Grandmasters with Asian names leading

[19.06.2019] - Sunday's simultaneous game in the fantastic premises of the Municipal House opened the festival with a nice athmosphere. Art Nouveau splendor is breathtaking not only in the Mayor's Hall, which is the work of Alfons Mucha and the gateway to this year's top event of the Prague Chess Society. On Monday, the first games of grandmaster duels began.
The best Czech chess player David Navara loses 2: 1 in the match with the world's third best player Ding Liren after the first day. The best Czech junior chess player Thai Dai Van Nguyen leads over the world chess legend Jan Timman with the same sc... [all]

Preparation for Navara

Preparation for Navara

[18.06.2019] - 64 children registered for a qualification tournament for a simul with the Czech best chess player David Navara. The chess number 64 was a confirmation that the goddess Caissa wished the best to the Prague Chess Society, which held this tournament for children in the luxurious premises of EA Embassy hotel situated in the centre of Prague.

Three times five places for the simul with the grandmaster Navara were contested for in three categories: up to 10, up to 14 and up to 18 years old. It was surprising that the first seven positions were taken by children from up to 14 category, wh... [all]

Pilgrimiges of wooden kings

Pilgrimiges of wooden kings

[17.06.2019] - We have been mapping journeys of the blue chess kings that were sent on the road by the Prague Chess Society as travel-bugs in a geocaching game. All four kings have already travelled thousands of kilometres and two of them already arrived to their destinations. One on time, the other late, and other two are still on the way…

The first wooden king had been heading to Tonsberg, the hometown of the world champion Magnus Carlsen, and he managed to get there just on time for the opening of the Norwegian super tournament Altibox 2019, where Carlsen participates too. The chess tournament ... [all]

Chess Train 2018

Train full of magiciens

Train full of magiciens

[13.10.2018] - A bit like Harry Potter's classmates could have felt, the participants of the eighth Chess Train establishes magic in its journey. And not only because Prague is magical, as Ripellino wrote, but also due to the departure of the train from the 4? platform.

One hundred and three chess players from 21 countries around the world met on Friday morning in the Government Lounge at Main Station in Prague. At 9:59, they expected their special express train to be on the fifth platform where Hagrid's suitcases had already been gathered. One past ten, however, they left the fifth platform and non... [all]
