EXHIBITION B. SCHNIRCH & CHESS PIECES

The most significant Czech sculptor of the second half of 19th century, Bohuslav Schnirch was at the same time a passionate chessplayer and he is the author of the first Czech chessmen so called ´Česká klubovka´, which have gradually been slightly modified in their shape. They were used by the most famous 20th century chessplayers and they are still being manufactured.

At the exhibition you will be able to see not only ´Česká klubovka´ chess pieces, which were used during the Chess Olympic held in 1931 in Prague or on interzonal chess tournaments during 50ties, or photographs and object related to Bohuslav Schnirch, but also his own chess table.

Exhibition opening will take place on Wednesday 13 June at 3 p.m. at Michna Palace at Kampa, Prague and it will be open to public.
