[27.07.2017 00:00:00] - The collection of banknotes and coins with chess theme, which is being built by Brno based businessman and chess patron, Vlastimil Chládek, and which will be exhibited for the first time in the Czech National Bank during the course of the Chess Bank Festival, so far consists of one banknote and several tens of coins. If you are aware of a coin or a note, which is not listed below, please let us know by email (prazska.sachova@gmail.com) and you will receive a reward. We are interested only in actual money, not in memorial medals or other souvenirs.
The collector is still looking for three Cuban coins from 1988. The first is 5 peso coin, the other 20 peso coin, both of them are silver and they are depicting Cuban world champion José Raul Capablanca. The third is 1 peso coin from 1988 with chess pieces. Would you be able to get hold of them?
However, it is possible that other chess theme coins, which have not been found by Vlastimil Chládek, are not in the collection. Considering that there is not a catalog of chess coins (unlike for example catalogs of chess theme post stamps, which exist), it is not easy to put together a list of such coins. For the exhibition, which you can visit from 28 till 30 November 2017 in Prague in Czech National Bank´s main building, a catalog will be published and you can help to make it complete.
