CHESS TRAIN 2016

Take part in an exceptional tournament and a beautiful journey

[04.03.2016 00:00:00] - This year’s Chess Train is ready and if you would like to be on board, you can register now. From Friday 7 October until Tuesday 11 October you can visit the beautiful cities of Regensburg, Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Cesky Krumlov and play in a chess tournament during the train ride.

The railway cars are converted into tournament halls which will seat 120 chess players from all over the world. Last year, the tournament saw players from 19 countries, from beginners through experienced club players to international grandmasters. The winner of the Chess Train 2015 was the Swedish GM Lars Karlsson, followed by the Philippine GM Julio Sadorra and the German GM Raj Tischbierek. Who will be this year’s winner on the journey through the Alpine peaks?

More details and the registration form can be found here.

In each of the cities, you can choose the accommodation in 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels selected by the organiser, or you can book your accommodation individually.

Already for the sixth time, the Chess Train is organised by the Prague Chess Society and its main partner Czech Railways. Dining cars of the company JLV are part of the train to offer you a tasty lunch during the journey.

If you are missing some information on this website, don’t hesitate to ask (e-mail: prazska.sachova@gmail.com).

This year, the Chess Train will repeat the most successful route in its history: Prague – Regensburg – Innsbruck – Salzburg – Cesky Krumlov – Prague. The event is open for all chess players regardless of age and performance.

Christened in 2014, the chess locomotive will pull the Chess Train already for the third time.
